Info Biográfica de Jose Antonio Offerman

Jose Antonio Offerman...Married, wife's name is Alexis; two daughters, Joseann (3/10/94) and Jealynn (7/3/97)...Attended Colegio Biblico Cristiano High School (DR), where he played baseball, basketball and volleyball. 2005 He came out of nowhere in late June to provide some productive pinch-hitting -- 11-for-37 (.297) -- and tentative defense. A potential free agent, Offerman didn't appear to have a place in the club's plans for 2006. But his ability to deliver off the bench -- if he retains it at age 37 -- will make him attractive to any team with a need for pinch-hitting. He accepted a Minor League assignment with the Mets after the Phillies released him in late May and played for the Major League minimum, so he has appeal in that regard, too. 2004 Led the AL in pinch-average (.414, 12-29) and pinch-hits (12)...Started five games at 1st base and one at 2nd base...Appeared in 39 games as the DH...Had nine hits in his first five games of the season (five 2Bs, two HRs)...Had the game-winning RBI single in the 15th inning, 4/6 vs CLE...Both of his HRs came in consecutive games, 4/8-10 at DET...Doubled off Chris Hammond for career hit No. 1,500, 5/7 at OAK...Hit .407 (11-27) in 12 August games...Played for Licey in Dominican Winter League. 2003 Played for Bridgeport in the Independent Atlantic League. 2002 Began season with Boston ... was 9-23 (.391) in 6 games, April 12-24 ... season-high 4 rbi, April 21 at Kansas City ... 17th career 4-hit game, May 1 vs. Baltimore ... hit safely in 7 of 8 games, going 12-33 (.364), May 1-12 ... hit safely in 5 of 6 games, June 6-11 ... season-high 8-game hit-streak, going 11-29 (.379), July 4-17 ... claimed by Seattle off waivers, August 8 ... hit safely in 5 consecutive games, September 2-8 ... had .993 fielding percentage ... made 52 appearances at first base, 1 at second base and 8 in the outfield. 2001 Had 8-game hit streak at the start of the season 4/5-4/13 11-30 .367, 2B, 5 BB, 6 R...Hit a HR in 3 consec.
