Sergio Jose Santos... Married with three children... Graduated in 2002 from Mater Dei High School in Santa Ana, CA... Played baseball and football ... Was a member of the 2001 Junior National Pan Am Silver Medalist Team that played in Camaguey, Cuba.

Appeared in five games out of the bullpen prior to being placed on the 15-day DL with a right triceps strain on April 16… Was later transferred to the 60-day DL May 19 and underwent elbow surgery to remove bone spurs... Returned to action on Aug. 1, spending the balance of the season with the Major League club. Surrendered runs in four of his 29 games this season. Allowed just one of his 22 inherited runners to score. Posted a scoreless innings streak of 13.2 IP from August 16-September 27, a span of 18 appearances. Recorded a hitless streak of 12.0 innings from August 20-September 27. Gave up just one earned run on the road over 12.2 IP (0.71 ERA).

2012 Began the season as the closer however appeared in only six games before being disabled with right shoulder inflammation... Did not pitch for the balance of the season...Following attempts to strengthen and rehab the shoulder unsucessfully, he underwent shoulder surgery on July 25...Blew his first two save opportunties before collecting two in his final two chances. 2011 Was 4-5 with a 3.55 ERA (25 ER/63.1 IP), 30 saves and 92 strikeouts in 63 games ... WHERE HE RANKED: Among relievers, ranked 2nd in strikeouts (92), 3rd in strikeouts per 9.0 IP (13.14), T-3rd in first batter efficiency (.125), 6th in opponents average (.181) and hits per 9.0 IP (5.8), 8th in saves (30) and save percentage (83.3)... Became the 8th pitcher (16th time) in White Sox history to reach the 30-save milestone... WHAT A RUN: Established a Major League record with 25 consecutive scoreless appearances (26.2 IP) on the road to begin a season from April 2-Aug. 30, breaking Mariano Rivera's record of 24 set in 2005... Did not allow a run in his first 16 games (20.0 IP) to start the season, the second-most scoreless outings and IP to begin a season in club history (Dustin Hermanson, 19 games and 21.0 IP in 2005)...Became one of two relievers in Sox history with at least 30 saves and 90 strikeouts (also Keith Foulke in 2000) ...
