Edwin signed a minor league deal with the Cubs on October 31, 2012, after spending the last two seasons in Milwaukee's chain - that included 30 games with the Brewers last year ... originally selected by Houston in the 19th round of the 2003 draft. ...In parts of three seasons with the Astros (2008-09) and Brewers (2012), owns a .265 major league batting average (36-for-136) with three doubles, one triple, two home runs and 11 RBI in 76 games. ...Has played 25 games (21 starts) at shortstop, 21 games (16 starts) at second base and eight games (three starts) at third base. ...In 10 minor league campaigns, has logged a .255 batting average (811-for-3,182) with 183 doubles, 23 triples, 45 home runs and 333 RBI in 923 games. ...Played collegiate ball at Delta State University in Cleveland, Miss. from 2002-03. ...Was a two-time All-Gulf South Conference selection and American Baseball Coaches Association All-Region selection at Delta State. 2012 In his second season in Milwaukee's
