Drafted out of Newton Community High School in Illinois by Montreal following his senior season in 2001...did not sign and went on to attend Wabash Valley Junior College (IL)...pitched one year at Wabash, posting a 2.44 ERA (21ER/77.1IP) in 12 starts...drafted out of Wabash by Florida in the 18th round of the June 2002 draft...signed by Marlins scout Scott Engler ... Signed to a minor league deal by Houston for the 2011 season and invited to Major League Spring Training on Nov. 12, 2010. 2010 Was acquired by Oakland from Baltimore on June 22 with cash considerations for Jake Fox...had no decisions and a 4.26 ERA in 11 relief appearances over two stints with the A's...was assigned to Triple A Sacramento following the trade but was selected by Oakland on July 7...had a .250 opponents batting average, which included a .192 (5x26) mark against right-handed hitters and .318 (7x22) against left-handers...made his A's debut on July 10 against LAA, his first Major League appearance since Sept. 29, 2007 at NYM while pitching for Florida...went 23 days and 21 games without pitching before he was optioned to Sacramento on Aug. 22...recalled when rosters expanded Sept. 1...did not allow a run in his first three games... was outrighted off the 40-man roster on Oct. 7 and elected free agency two days later...began the season at Triple A Norfolk in the Baltimore organization where he went 0-2 with a 1.88 ERA in 25 relief appearances...also went 0-1 with three saves and a 5.59 ERA in 10 relief appearances at Sacramento...combined for an 0-3 record, three saves and a 2.63 ERA in 35 games overall... yielded just two home runs in 48.0 innings...allowed a .227 opponents batting average, including .231 (25x108) against righthanded hitters and .221 (17x77) against left-handers...did not allow an earned run over his final 12 games with the Tides (15.2IP)...did not allow a run in his first six outings with the River Cats, giving him a 14-game, 15.2 innings scoreless streak. 2009 Spent the season with Triple-A Norfolk, going 4-2 with one save and a 3.95 ERA in 47 games...Struck out 73 batters in 82.0 IP, walking 33...Allowed a season-high 8 ER in 1.1 IP, June 1 at Columbus...Pitched to a 2.43 ERA (29.2IP, 8ER) in 17 games in April and May and a 4.82 ERA (52.1IP, 28ER) beginning June 1...Went a season-high 3.0 innings on six occasions...Struck out a season-high 5, May 25 at Toledo 2008 Began the season with Class-A Jupiter, collecting one save in 3 appearances (4.0IP)...Spent the rest of the season with Triple-A Albuquerque, going 5-2 with one save and a 3.92 ERA (39.0IP, 17ER) in 38 games...Pitched to a 2.78 ERA (22.2IP, 7ER) in 21 home games and a 5.51 ERA (16.1IP, 10ER) in 17 road games...Allowed 2 earned runs in his first appearance, May 25 at New Orleans, then did not allow an earned run in 11 consecutive appearances...Went 2-0 with a 0.75 ERA (12.0IP, 1ER) in 11 June games. 2007 Went 0-1 with 11.68 ERA in 14 relief appearances during first Major League season ... made Major League debut August 10 at New York-NL, retiring only batter faced and stranding inherited runner ... worked season-long 2.0 innings twice, September 5 at Washington and September 16 at Colorado ... recorded season-high three strikeouts in outing on September 16 ...
