Jim signed a minor league contract with the Cubs with an invitation to major league spring training in January of 2017 ... he has appeared in parts of four major league seasons with the Brewers (2012-14) and Mets (2016), going 10-11 with 31 saves and a 3.61 ERA (55 ER/137.0 IP)...Previously pitched in the Cubs organization from 2007-08 ... was selected by the Cubs in the Triple-A Phase of the Rule 5 Draft in December of 2006 ... was released by Chicago in March of 2009...Posted a career-high 28 saves in 2013 with Milwaukee, recording a 2.70 ERA (18 ER/60.0 IP) in 61 games...Has gone 41-41 with a 4.00 ERA (306 ER/688.2 IP) and 66 saves in 372 minor league games since making his professional debut in 2003 in the Expos organization...Was a member of the gold-medal winning Canadian National Team at the 2011 Pan-American Games ... inducted, along with the rest of the team, into the Canadian Baseball Hall of Fame... Originally selected by Montreal in the 26th round of the 2003 Draft out of Tennessee Wesleyan College ... was inducted into the college's Hall of Fame in January of 2014...Graduated from Central Memorial High School in Calgary, Alberta...Is a supporter of the ALS Foundation and its fight against Lou Gehrig's Disease.
