Went 5-4 with a 3.27 ERA in 21 games (11 starts) at the University of Missouri in 2005...Also attended Central Arizona College 2003-04...Went 13-3 with a 1.35 ERA (15 ER/100.0 IP) and 92 strikeouts in 18 games in 2004...Named to the All-Conference 1st Team, All-Region 1st Team and was a NJCAA Academic All-American in 2004...Graduated from Show Low (AZ) High School in 2002. 2011 Spent time at the Triple-A level in the Giants and A's systems and also pitched in Korea...Combined for a 4.27 ERA (41 ER/86.1 IP) with 64 strikeouts in 17 starts between San Francisco's Triple-A Fresno (13 starts) and Oakland's Sacramento (4) clubs...Signed with Cleveland on 1/18 but was released on 3/27 prior to the start of the season...Signed by San Francisco on 3/29 and began the season with Fresno, where he did not earn a win in 13 starts despite posting a 3.60 ERA (26 ER/65.0 IP)...Released on 6/15 and claimed 2 days later by Oakland on 6/17...Made 4 starts with the River Cats before being released on 7/11...Also pitched for the Samsung Lions of Korea Professional Baseball last season, where he went 5-2 with a 2.52 ERA (18 ER/64.1 IP). 2010 Mathis split the 2010 season between the AL Champion Texas Rangers and the Triple-A Oklahoma City Redhawks in his sixth season in the Texas organization...He went 1-1 w/ a 6.04 ERA in 13 Major League relief appearances (22.1IP, 30H, 15ER, 11BB, 10K) over two stints in Texas, recording an ERA of 3.00 (21.0IP, 23H, 7ER, 4HR) in 12 of the outings excluding his appearance of May 14 at Toronto (1.1IP, 7H, 8ER)...Worked relief career-high 4.1 shutout innings on April 24 vs. Detroit...His second stint in Texas in July resulted in four scoreless 1.0 inning outings (2H).
