Kendrick optioned after shaky start vs. Brewers

After a second straight uninspiring start by Kyle Kendrick in Wednesday's 7-4 loss to the Brewers, the Red Sox optioned the veteran right-hander to Triple-A Pawtucket. In a corresponding move, lefty reliever Robbie Ross Jr. was recalled from Pawtucket on Thursday morning.

Full name is Kyle Rodney Kendrick. Signed by Tom Kissner (Phillies). Is married to Stephenie LaGrossa...They have a daughter, Sophia Marguerite, and a son, Kyle Jr. Graduated in 2003 from Mount Vernon (WA) High School, where he played baseball, basketball, and football... Turned down a scholarship to play quarterback at Washington State University. 

2016

Spent the entire season in the Angels' minor league system. Made 15 starts and 1 relief appearance for Triple-A Salt Lake, going 6-5 with a 4.82 ERA (49 ER/93.1 IP)...Also made 4 starts for the Rookie-level AZL Angels to rehab a right shoulder impingement (1-1, 2.31 ERA). Held LHH to a .215 AVG (38-for-177) with Salt Lake. Pitched at least 6.0 innings in 6 consecutive starts from 5/26-6/23 before being placed on the DL on 7/1. Reinstated from the DL on 8/25 and made 3 more starts for the Bees, allowing just 3 ER in 14.1 IP (1.88 ERA)... Gave up 2 ER or fewer in 6 of his final 7 Triple-A starts.
