Spilt the season between the White Sox and Class AAA Charlotte … recorded a career-low 2.13 ERA
(6 ER/25.1 IP) in 24 appearances with the Sox, including a 1.61 (4 ER/22.1 IP) mark in 20 games after the All- Star Break … 19 of his 24 appearances were scoreless … left-handers hit just .205 (9-44), while righties batted .213 (10-47) … surrendered just three hits in 31 at-bats (.097) with RISP … allowed just one earned run over 11.1 IP (11 appearances) at U.S. Cellular Field … his contract was purchased from Charlotte on 7/3 … made his season debut on 7/5 at Tampa Bay (1 ER/1.0 IP) … made eight consecutive scoreless appearances (7.1 IP) from 7/19-8/7 … his victory on 8/10 vs. Minnesota was his first since 6/13/11 vs. Tampa Bay (with Detroit) … worked 8.1 scoreless IP with 10 strikeouts over eight appearances from 8/10-9/7 … retired all eight batters faced on 9/13 vs. Cleveland … was shut down for the remainder of the season on 9/23 due to a strained left ulnar collateral ligament … was selected to the International League midseason All-Star Team but did not play due to his promotion to the White Sox … converted all three of his save situations with Charlotte … limited lefties to a .146 average (6-41) … was outrighted to Charlotte on 10/18.

DISABLED: Was placed on the DL on Aug.13 with a right foot injury (strained ligaments) and was not activated until Sept.1... Was sent on a rehab assignment in New Hampshire (AA) where he pitched in three games (2.2IP/4ER)... IN THE MINORS: In 17 games with the Las Vegas 51s (AAA) was 2-1 with a 3.38 ERA (7ER/18.2IP) allowing only 14 hits, while striking out 23... Allowed a run in only three of his 17 appearances with the 51s. 2009 Broke camp with the Blue Jays for the first time in his career... In total made nine starts with the Blue Jays over two separate stints with the club... TOUGH BEGINNING: Made five starts in April before being optioned to Las Vegas of the Pacific Coast League (AAA)... In those five starts, posted a 0-2 record with a 7.01 ERA... Fanned 26 in his 25.2 innings, although did add 18 walks... MINORS: Spent the majority of the season with the 51s, making 24 starts... Led the club in wins (9), ERA (4.46) and strikeouts (109)...
