Spent almost the entire season on the DL; was limited to just 3 games at catcher...Got injured in his 1st game of the season, 4/6 at TB, after a collision at home plate with Desmond Jennings; was removed an inning later with a cervical neck strain...Was on the 15-day DL, 4/9-23; included a rehab assignment to Columbus (AAA), 4/18-21...Started at catcher on 4/24 and was placed back on the DL the very next day with shoulder soreness...Missed the remainder of the season after failed rehab assignments in May, June and August; had continued soreness in his throwing shoulder and right elbow...Was shut down for the season in mid-August.

2012 Spent second consecutive full season with Cleveland, backing up Carlos Santana while improving offensively as the season went along...Made 64 starts at catcher (69 games) and made just 2 errors on the season...Season got off to a 2-for-27 (.074) start before hitting in a then career-high 8 straight games from May 24-June 7 and went on to hit in a career-high 9 straight games from June 27-July 14...From May 24 thru the end of the season he hit .250 (42-168) with 23RS and 12RBI in 58 games (hit safely in 31 of them).
