John Dale Martin... graduated from Burroughs High School (CA) in 2001 and entered that year's draft ranked 20th overall by Baseball America and second in 'Best Command' category among prep pitchers... comes from a baseball family, as father pitched two seasons in the Yankees and Angels organizations, and brother Kevin pitched three years in Cleveland's system. 2012 Spent the season with Triple-A New Orleans in the Marlins organization. 2011 Split campaign between starter and reliever for triple-A Syracuse in Washington system...Made 14 starts, posting a 3-7 record and 4.42 ERA (75.1 IP/37 ER). Issued just nine walks and struck out 42 in the role...Out of bullpen, had no record and two saves with a 2.78 ERA (32.1/10) in 16 appearances; struck out 30 and walked just eight...Among all Chiefs' pitchers, ranked fourth in innings pitched (107.2) and fifth in strikeouts (72)...Threw a total of 1,555 pitches on season, with 66% of those being strikes (1,024)...Longest starting stretch reached four games, from July 1-20, when he went 1-1 with a 5.23 ERA (20.2/12)...Surrendered a season-high six runs over 4.2 innings in second start of year, April 27 vs. Toledo...Earned first win of season on June 8 vs. Louisville, allowing just two hits and no runs over 6.0 frames.
