The Angels officially announced the signing of power reliever Al Alburquerque on Tuesday, designating first baseman Efren Navarro for assignment in order to create room on the 40-man roster.

Completed his first full season at the major league level with the Tigers in 2014, establishing career-highs with 72 appearances and 57.1 innings pitched. Finished tied for 10th in the American League with 72 appearances out of the bullpen. Tossed the first save of his major league career on April 9 at Dodger stadium. Fanned a season-high four batters on April 26 at Minnesota -- matched the high on August 10 at Toronto. Compiled a 1-1 record, five holds, a 1.98 erA (13.2IP/3er) and 18 strikeouts in 16 games during May. Tied for sixth among all AL relievers with five holds during May, while he was tied for ninth with 18 strikeouts. Pitched a season-high 2.0 innings on August 12 at Pittsburgh -- equaled the high on september 21 at Kansas City. Tossed 9.2 scoreless innings during the month of August, allowing five hits while striking out 11.
