Morris undergoes surgery for herniated disk

Bryan Morris underwent surgery Wednesday on a herniated lumbar disk. The Marlins' right-handed reliever opted for surgery after consulting on Tuesday with Dr. Frank Eismont of the University of Miami Hospital.

Marlins reliever Bryan Morris has opted to undergo surgery to repair a herniated disc, and the right-hander has not given up hope he can pitch late this season.

Avery Bryan Morris...married to Chelsey...they have a son, Colton (11/20/15)...is a 2005 graduate of Tullahoma (TN) High School...during high school career, had a 12-strikeout no-hitter (7.0 ip) against Franklin County High of Winchester, his father's alma mater...his father, Ricky, was a sixth-round pick of the Minnesota Twins in 1968...was named to the 2005 Louisville Slugger High School All-American team... played baseball at Motlow State Community College...in 2006, led all Tennessee JUCO pitchers with a 0.91 ERA, while striking out 108 batters in 79.0 innings...had high school uniform #15 retired on January 4, 2013.
