Christopher Ryan Getz... Married... Played baseball at both Wake Forest University (2003) and the University of Michigan (2004-05)... Named to the All-Big Ten First-Team in 2004 and '05... Named an American Baseball Coaches Association and Rawlings Second-Team All-America as a junior... Was National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association Player of the Year for District V in 2005.

Missed 14 games during the second half of the season with a sprained left knee... Returned from the D.L. to bat .280 (14-for-50) in August...Swiped 16 bases, which ranked fifth among A.L. second basemen... His eight sacrifices were tied for seventh in the A.L....Homered off Atlanta's Kris Medlen on April 16 to end a 954 at-bat drought without a home run, which included 829 at bats as a Royal...Collected a career-high 3 RBI in Philadelphia on April 5...Stole 2 bases in a game twice, including Sept. 9 in Cleveland, when he swiped second and third as a pinch runner...Was optioned to Omaha (AAA) on June 22, where he hit .313 (20-for-64) with 5 doubles and a triple... Also played in 5 games with the Storm Chasers on a rehab assignment August 5-11...His .220 average represented a career low.

2012 Chris struggled through several injuries to play in 64 games in 2012...played well as Royals starting second baseman when healthy with KC going 30-25 in his 55 starts...Posted 13 extra-base hits (10 2B, 3 3B) in 64 games after collecting just 9 (6 2B, 3 3B) in 118 games in 2011...Chris went on the D.L. three times, missing 20 games with a left lateral lower leg strain from June 18-July 9 after previously missing 17 games with a left ribcage contusion (May 22-June 12)...missed the last month and a half of the season after suffering a left thumb fracture on August 17 which required surgery. 2011 Chris spent his second full season with the Royals...swiped 21 bases in 28 attempts, marking his second season with 20+ steals (25 in 2009 w/ White Sox). ... Batted .321 (26-for-81) with runners in scoring position and finished tied for eighth in the Majors with 14 sac bunts. ... Made his first Major League start and appearance at shortstop on August 26 in Cleveland. 2010 Chris struggled through injuries in his first season with the Royals, playing in just 72 games...missed 12 games in April with an oblique strain...Stole 15 bases in 17 attempts and is now 41-for-46 in his career, an 89.1 percent success rate which is the best in baseball among active players with at least 40 steals...Suffered a mild concussion on September 12 at Chicago after being hit in the helmet on a throw while stealing second base and missed the remainder of the season with symptoms relating to the concussion. 2009 Had a solid rookie season as the White Sox primary second baseman, ranking among the A.L. rookie leaders in multi-hit games (T-1st, 28), triples (3rd), stolen bases (3rd), doubles (T-4th), walks (5th), runs scored (5th) and hits (5th)...Stole 25 bases in 27 attempts, as his 92.6 success rate led the A.L.
