Made one start in the World Baseball Classic, helping Canada earn a 10-3 win over Mexico on 3/9 in the tournament's opening round (3.0IP, 2H, 1R/0ER, 1BB, 4K)…made his first Major League Opening Day roster, but was designated for assignment after producing a 6.75 ERA (4.0IP, 3ER) in only 2G with the Pirates…elected free agency on 4/17 and signed with the Tokyo Yakult Swallows in the Central League of Nippon Professional Baseball on 4/23…made 5 starts for the Swallows, going 0-2 with a 9.00 ERA (22.0IP, 22ER, 14K, 11BB).
