2013

Combined for 112 apps for the Nationals and Phillies, including 47 starts in RF (19gs), CF (14gs) and LF (14gs)...began the season with Wsh but was released on 8/21...that same day was signed by Phi...when released was the longest-tenured player in the Nationals' organization...following the season became a free agent...on 1/31/14 was signed by the Reds to a minor league contract with an invitation to Major League spring training camp.

2012 Enjoyed breakout campaign...served primarily as Davey Johnson's 4th outfielder...fashioned career-best efforts in batting (.291), OBP (.372), slugging percentage (.405) and OPS (.777)...earned a walk once every 9.3 plate appearances...closed strong: hit team-high .328 in the season's 2nd "half" and posted slash of .339/.410/.440 (AVG/OBP/SLG) in 61 games starting July 18...when coming off bench, hit .339 (19-for-56)...with Washington leading 3-2, recorded the game's last out in the 12th inning to preserve a wild 3-2 win, Aug. 7 at HOU...the diving (away from home plate) catch was widely recognized as the finest defensive play ever made by a National (2005-12). 2011 Played in 91 games during three stints with Nationals, coupling seven home runs with a career-best 17 stolen bases ... made perhaps the defensive play of 2011 with spectacular, inning-ending diving catch to rob Mike Stanton of a two-run double, May 13 vs. FLA ... posted career-best four hits, three of which came in extra innings, in a crazy 14-inning 9-5 win at CWS on June 24 ... in sixth inning of that game, robbed Adam Dunn of a would-be two-run shot by climbing the left-center field wall and pulling back the "homer" ... posted lone game-winning RBI of season in 2-0 win, July 10 vs. COL ... began season with Syracuse. 2010 Was not a member of Washington's Opening Day roster, but enjoyed strong results in first season as an everyday player... started 111 games (34 in LF, 20 in CF, 57 in RF)...had a strong June (.329, 3 HR, 11 RBI, 5 SB, 26 games)...hit just .223 on the road, but 8 of 11 long balls came outside of DC...32 extra-base hits ranked 3rd among Nationals rookies since 2005...only Ryan Zimmerman (79, '06) and Ian Desmond (41, '10) posted more...was successful on 16 of 18 stolen-base attempts...among those to swipe 15 or more bags, stolen-base percentage of 88.9 tied for 4th in MLB... went 2-for-4 with an RBI, but more importantly, made spectacular inning-ending diving catch of Troy Glaus liner, May 4 vs. ATL...2-run shot in the 9th inning snapped a 4-4 tie and rendered first multi-homer game in a 6-4 win, May 12 at NYM...in the same game, made an inning-ending catch of a Jeff Francoeur liner with the bags loaded...posted 3 hits, including pair of doubles, and one RBI in a 7-5 win vs. PIT, June 9...doubled twice and posted 2 RBI in an 8-1 win that doubled as Roy Oswalt's Phillies debut, July 30 in DC. 2009 Played in 3 games with Nationals, but season was cut short by a season-ending ankle injury...on April 18 vs. FLA, just 3 days after being recalled from Triple-A Syracuse, fractured right ankle while making a spectacular catch at the center-field wall on a line drive by Dan Uggla in the 8th inning...that same night, underwent Open Reduction Internal Fixation (ORIF) surgery to repair the ankle, performed by Dr. Wiemi Douoguih at Washington Hospital Center...was placed on the DL the following day and missed the season's remaining 152 contests.
Game-By-Game Highlights: Recorded lone hit of season in 3-2 10-inning loss, April 17 vs. FLA...doubled in 8th inning off Logan Kensing after entering game as defensive replacement in right field at the top of that frame.
In Minor Leagues: Began season with Syracuse, where he batted .167 (3-for-18) with a stolen base...appeared in two games with GCL Nationals during rehab stint, Aug. 25-26.
2008 Earned first taste of big leagues in 2 stints with Washington...on June 28, was summoned from Harrisburg of the Double-A Eastern League for first big league promotion as Lastings Milledge went on the DL...laced a single in first career at-bat, June 29 vs. BAL, off Jeremy Guthrie...became first National to collect a hit in first MLB plate appearance since Joel Hanrahan tripled in nightcap of July 23, 2007 "twinbill" at NYM...hit .306 with 4 stolen bags in 16 September contests.

Game-By-Game Highlights: Recorded first big league RBI and extra-base hit with a triple on September 5 at ATL... on September 19 vs. SDP, posted a career-best 3 hits and swiped 2 bags.

In Minor Leagues: Led full-season Washington farmhands in batting (.336), hits (151) and runs (78)...ranked 2nd with 41 stolen bases...earned Harrisburg Player of the Month honors for May (.351, 13 extra base hits, 21 RBI)...rated in Baseball America's "Best Tools" survey of league managers as the Best Baserunner in the Double-A Eastern League. 2007 With Harrisburg, led Nationals organization with 40 stolen bases to rank 2nd in the Eastern League...played for Team Netherlands in the International Baseball Federation's (IBAF) European Olympic Qualifier Championship in Barcelona, SPA (.632 with 2 homers, 7 RBI, 9 walks, 6 stolen bases, 18 runs scored, 8 games)...also played for Team Netherlands at the XXXVII IBAF World Cup, November 7-18 (.357, double, RBI, 3 walks and 2 steals in 6 games). 2006 Batted .270 with 19 doubles, 6 homers, 42 RBI and 28 steals in 123 games with Potomac of the Single-A Carolina League...28 stolen bases ranked 7th in the CL...for 3rd straight season, posted exactly a .369 slugging percentage. 2005 In 3rd straight season with Savannah of the Single-A South Atlantic League, stole 35 bags to rank 2nd in Washington chain (Brandon Watson, 38)...hit 12 homers and led the SAL with career-high 75 walks en route to .356 OBP. 2004 Set career highs in runs (67), doubles (24) and RBI (66) with Savannah of the Single-A South Atlantic League. 2003 While with Savannah, was placed on the Disabled List, June 27-July 17, with a ligament tear in left ring finger. 2002 In pro debut, batted .319 in final 41 games with MON's Rookie-level Gulf Coast League entry...posted a 10-game hitting streak, July 27-August 8, batting .421 with 6 walks...primarily played left field.
