Kintzler, Abad to share Twins' closer duties

After right-hander Brandon Kintzler picked up his first career save with a scoreless ninth in the Twins' 7-5 win over the Marlins on Wednesday night, manager Paul Molitor announced he'll be backing off closer Kevin Jepsen in the short-term, using Kintzler and lefty Fernando Abad in save situations based on matchups.

SYRACUSE: Allowed a .254 opponents batting average with the Chiefs, including .211 (8-for-38) against right-handed hitters compared to .310 (9-for-29) with both of his walks against left-handers...yielded a .154 average to batters leading of an inning but had a .300 mark with runners in scoring position...did not allow a run in seven games on the road (6.1 ip)...did not allow a home run in 17.0 innings...allowed 5-of-12 (41.7%) inherited runners to score...began the season with an eight-game, 8.0-inning scoreless streak from April 5 to 24 ... then allowed a run in back-to-back outings April 26 and 30 before finishing the Triple-A portion of his campaign with a seven-game, 7.2-inning scoreless streak.
