Graduated from Lowell High School in San Francisco, Calif...set California high school state career records with 219 hits, 203 RBI, 32 triples and 97 runs...was a 2005 high school all- American batting .614 with 11 triples, seven home runs and 59 RBI...set a California single-season high school record with 71 RBI during junior year...ranked as the second-best catching prospect in 2004 by Collegiate Baseball and TeamOne...played college baseball for University of California-Berkeley and was a teammate of current Cardinals outfielder Allen Craig...resides in San Francisco, California. 2009 Played in 110 games between Quad Cities (A) and Palm Beach (A) earning a promotion after hitting .351 in 66 games at QC...His combined .322 batting average was 2nd highest in the Cardinals minors and fifth highest among all minor league catchers...Ranked in the Top 10 among Cardinals minor leaguers in several catagories; 10th in runs (61), 8th in hits (125), T-8th in RBI (59), 6th in walks (49), 2nd in on base percentage (.408) and 7th in on-base plus slugging (.839)...Named Cardinals organization Minor League Player of the Month for May batting .410 (7 doubles, 2 HR, 21 RBI in 26 games)...Led Quad Cities with 85 hits and seven sac flies despite playing in only 66 games...Following promotion to Palm Beach (7/7), hit .345 (20-58) in July...Threw out 24.8 percent (25-101) of would-be base stealers, and committed three errors in 552 TC for a .995 fld. pct...Rapped out four hits in three games, and had a total of 36 multiple-hit games...Smacked first career grand slam 4/27 vs. WIS off Kris Dabrowiecki capping off a career-high five RBI...Hit .365 (42-115) with RISP and battered LHPs at a .353 (36-102) clip...Holds a career on base + slugging of .821 in 530 at bats...Touted as the "Best Strike Zone Discipline" in the Cardinals organization by Baseball America's "Best Tools" survey. 2008 Played in 40 games at Batavia, batting .303 with 3 HR and 18 RBI, also hit .333 vs. LHP and .348 with RISP and 2 outs...ranked T-1st among NY-Penn League playoff batters with nine hits, 2nd with six runs and 4th with a .474 average...went 4- for-8 with two runs scored in championship series vs. Jamestown...threw out 25.9 percent (7-27) of would-be base stealers...hit first professional home run in second career game vs. Mahoning Valley (6/22).
