Chase Jonathan d'Arnaud (pronounced "dar-NO")...Is a 2005 graduate of Los Alamitos (CA) High School, where he was a three-year letterman in baseball...Named All-Orange County by The Los Angeles Times as a senior after leading team with a .512 batting average and 29 RBI...Played three years of baseball at Pepperdine University...Was named a Freshman All-American by Collegiate Baseball in 2006, and also to the All-WCC First-Team and WCC All-Freshman Team...Hit .331 as a sophomore and ranked second on the team with a .446 slugging percentage...Batted .314 with 17 doubles, 11 home runs and 50 RBI as a junior in 2008 and was named a First-Team West Coast Conference selection...Also played for the Anchorage Glacier Pilots of the Alaska Baseball League in the summer of 2006 and was named the league's eighth-best pro prospect by Baseball America...Brother Travis is a catcher in the New York Mets organization (the two played together on the 2009 South Atlantic League All-Star team)...Signed by Pirates scout Rick Allen.
