Raymond Thomas Hunter…Married the former Ellen Cohara, January 4, 2014…Attended Indianapolis Cathedral High School where he played baseball and football…Was a two-time Olympic judo champion…Originally drafted out of high school by Tampa Bay in the 18th round of the 2005 June draft…Earned a gold medal with the 2006 USA National Baseball Team…Went 3-0, 3.80 (21.1IP, 9ER) in the tournament, posting 23 strikeouts to four walks in 14 games (one GS)…Signed by Rangers scout Jeff Wood… Played two seasons for the University of Alabama, where he was used as both a starter and a closer…Received freshman second-team All-America honors with the Crimson Tide in 2006 after going 10-3, 3.30 (117.1IP, 43ER) with 80 strikeouts, 22 walks and one save over 20 games (16 starts)…Entered the 2007 college season as a preseason All-American, as selected by the National College Baseball Writers Association and Rivals…Was also listed on the 2007 Roger Clemens Award Watch List… Led Alabama's staff in wins (7), saves (5), innings pitched (107.0) and strikeouts (96) in 2007 as a draft-eligible sophomore… Registered a 3.87 ERA (46 ER/107.0 IP) in 26 games (11 starts)…Represented the Rangers in Sleep Experts' "Share the Warmth" Blanket Drive leading up to Thanksgiving 2009, an effort which benefitted domestic violence shelters in the Metroplex… Also represented the club in effort to replace stolen equipment for players on the Cedar Hill High School baseball team, whose field house was vandalized over their 2009 winter break.
