The Office of the Commissioner of Baseball announced today that Toronto Blue Jays first baseman Chris Colabello has received an 80-game suspension without pay after testing positive for a performance-enhancing substance in violation of Major League Baseball's Joint Drug Prevention and Treatment Program.

Christopher Adrian Colabello • 2002 graduate of Milford (MA) High School. • Attended Assumption College in Worcester, MA, graduating in 2005... Batted .361 in 2003 for the Greyhounds and .380 in 2004. • Father Lou Colabello played for Italy in 1984 Olympics. • Participated in the 2016 Blue Jays Winter Tour.

Set career-highs in games (101), runs (55), hits (107), doubles (19), home runs (15), RBI (54), walks (22), strikeouts (96) and average (.321). • Seven of his 15 home runs this season either gave the Blue Jays the lead or tied the game. • Hit his first career triple October 2 at TB. • Had his 9-game hitting streak snapped 8/13 vs. OAK…Over those nine contests hit .462 (12-26)…Marked his 2nd streak of 9+ games in 2015 (18G, May 20-June 8). • Hit the game-winning shot in the 12th inning to break a 0-0 tie June 25 at TB. • Had a career-high 18-game hitting streak from May 20-June 8…Went 25-for-74 (.338) over those games…At the time it was the longest hitting streak by a Blue Jay since Scott Rolen in 2009 (25-GM). • Hit a walk-off two-run single to cap a three-run rally in the 9th inning on June 7th vs. HOU. • Recorded a career-high four hits May 6 vs. NYY…Collected back-to-back multi-hit efforts for the 1st time since April 17, 2014 vs. TOR. • Appeared in 23 games for Buffalo prior to making his TOR debut May 5 vs. NYY... Named International League Player of the Week again during the week of May 20, leading the IL with 15 hits, a .586 average, 10 RBI, a .594 on-base percentage, and a 1.071 slugging percentage, hitting safely in all seven games played; nine of those 15 hits went for extra bases... Hit safely in 16 straight games May 9-June 5 with the Red Wings... Hit .425 (34-for-80) with 12 doubles, six home runs, 20 RBI and 15 runs scored in 20 May games with Rochester... Had contract selected from Triple-A Rochester May 22... Made Major League debut May 22 at Atlanta, batting sixth and playing right field, going 0-for-4...
