Full name CEDRIC SCOTT HUNTER...Single...Attended Martin Luther King Jr. High School in Lithonia, Ga., where he played baseball, football and basketball...Hit .540 his senior season...Signed with the Padres out of high school at the age of 18. 2012 Went to spring training with Oakland before being traded to the Cardinals organization at the start of the season and spent the entire season at Triple-A Memphis where he again recorded more walks than strikeouts...Has just 305 strikeouts in his Minor League career in 3380 plate appearances (1K per 11.1 plate appearances). He appeared in all three positions in the outfield with Memphis (50G LF, 46G CF, 21G RF) and his best month was June, hitting .373 (31-83) with 4 2B, 1 3B, 1HR & 19RBI in 27 games and had 12RBI over a 7-game stretch, June 3-10...In the second half from July 12-on he hit .227 (27-119) with 3 2B, 1HR & 10RBI. 2011 Made his Major League debut with San Diego, going 1 for 4 (.250) with a run scored and a walk in six games...hit .357 in 18 games with the Padres during the spring but was optioned to Tucson March 15... was recalled March 28 and was on San Diego's Opening Day roster...made his debut March 31 at St. Louis...pinch ran for Maybin in the 11th inning and scored the Padres' final run in a 5-3, 11-inning win on Opening Day at St. Louis...his first at-bat came two days later against the Cardinals, a pinch-hit walk in the seventh inning...had a pinch-hit single off Guillermo Mota in the sixth inning April 5 against San Francisco for his first ML hit...went 1-for-3 (.333) as a pinch-hitter...did not make a start although he did appear in two games in center field...all of his at-bats came against right-handed pitching...was optioned to Tucson April 9, spending the remainder of the season in the minors.

TUCSON: Hit .255 with two home runs and 33 RBI in 81 games with Tucson before his season ended July 17 with a strained left groin...had more walks (28) than strikeouts (24) for the second consecutive season...batted .262 (16 for 61) against left-handed pitching, compared to .253 (56 for 221) against right-handers...hit .213 with the bases empty, .314 with runners on...belted both of his home runs against right-handed pitchers, on the road, during the day...appeared in 58 games in center field, 16 in left field, two at designated hitter and one in right field...committed nine errors in 73 games overall in the outfield...was also 0-for-6 as a pinch-hitter...hit in every spot in the order except fifth...saw his most action (24 games) batting second...had a .303 average in 18 contests hitting eighth...went 0-for-4 in his first game with Tucson April 11 at Salt Lake but then hit safely in a season-high eight consecutive games from April 12-20...was 11-for-37 (.297) during the hitting streak but then went 8-for-42 (.190) over his next 11 games...went seven consecutive games without a strikeout from April 28 to May 6...had a seven-game hitting streak from May 5-11 (12-for-28, .429), including a season-best 4-for-5 performance against Round Rock May 10...also scored a season-high four runs in that game...had a season-high five RBI May 22 at Iowa when he went 3-for-6 and fell a home run short of the cycle...was hitting .271 at the end of the May but then batted .192 in June...went 0-for-15 over an eight-game stretch from June 10-18...was 10-for-32 (.313) in 11 games in July before going on the disabled list July 17 with a strained left groin...missed the remainder of the season.
