Cole A. Kimball...is a Centenary (NJ) College alum...in 2 years at Centenary, he went 11-9 with a 3.70 ERA, striking out 139 in 136.1 innings... ranks 3rd in Centenary history in strikeouts and 4th in ERA...while there, helped the Cyclones reach the Division III Final 4 in 2006...is a graduate of Hackettstown (NJ) High. 2012 Spent majority of '12 in rehab mode, but returned to the mound in late June...pitched in 6 games at 4 levels in Washington's chain, posting a 6.35 ERA...from there, participated in the Florida Instructional League and the Arizona Fall League (4.80 ERA in 11 games with Scottsdale). 2011 Pitched well in first action at the big league level, but had season cut short by a shoulder injury...underwent season-ending right rotator cuff surgery on July 13...the procedure was performed by Dr. David Altchek at Hospital for Special Surgery in New York, NY... began the season in Syracuse before earning a promotion to the big leagues on May 14...earned first big league win with 1.0 scoreless inning, May 16 vs. PIT, but also suffered blown save by allowing inherited runner to score...offered scoreless relief in 10 of 12 appearances with Washington...posted a solid .174 (8-for-46) batting average against...before earning a May 14 promotion to the big leagues, went 1-0 with 5 saves and did not allow a run in 13.2 innings with Triple-A Syracuse...recorded a .163 batting average against with the Chiefs. 2010 Enjoyed finest campaign as a pro, yet, going a combined 8-1 with 18 saves and a 2.17 ERA in 57 appearances with Harrisburg of the Double-A Eastern League and Potomac of the Single-A Carolina League...posted 101 strikeouts in 78.2 innings of work, an average of 11.6 strikeouts per 9.0 innings...selected as a Nationals' affiliate Pitcher of the Month an organizational-best 3 times (Potomac - April, Harrisburg - June & August)...in first career action at Double-A level, posted a team-best 12 saves for Harrisburg...following season, posted an impressive 0.75 ERA and struck out 15 in 12.0 innings in the Arizona Fall League...pitching for Scottsdale in front of a national-TV audience, protected a 3-2 lead and earned the save in the AFL Championship Game on Nov. 20 vs. Peoria Javelinas. 2009 After making 45 starts during first 3 seasons as a pro, pitched exclusively in relief during '09 campaign...spent entire season with Potomac, appearing in 37 games...posted one hold and 9 saves (2nd among P-Nats). 2008 Ranked 4th among Washington minor league pitchers with 122 strikeouts. 2007 Pitched in 14 games/13 starts with Vermont of the short-season Single-A New York-Penn League...for first time, flashed power arm via 74 strikeouts in 64.1 innings. 2006 Allowed only 3 home runs in 34.0 innings spanning 16 appearances/5 starts with Vermont in first action as a pro.
