Mitchell D. Canham...graduated from Lake Stevens (WA) High School where he was a three-sport athlete (baseball, football and wrestling) and an honor student...won a state baseball championship...attended Oregon State University and majored in business... was OSU's 2006-07 Pacific-10 Conference Medal winner, awarded annually to each member institution's outstanding female and male student-athlete based on the combination of performance and achievement in scholarship, athletics and leadership... tabbed as a 2007 First-Team CoSIDA/ESPN The Magazine Academic All-American, a Pac-10 All-Academic First-Team honoree and the recipient of the Pacific-10 Sportsmanship Award...also named to the Louisville Slugger All-America Baseball squad as a thirdteam selection...won two NCAA Championships with the Beavers (2006-07)...signed by Padres scout Josh Boyd. 2009 Spent the entire season with Double-A San Antonio, appearing in 111 games...played in 102 games behind the plate while also making three outfield appearances. Recorded 32 multi-hit efforts, including five in his first six games...went 11-for-23 to start the season (4/9-17), tallying four two-hit games and one three-hit performance...also walked five times during that stretch, reaching base safely in 16 of his 28 plate appearances (.571)...Threw out 28 of 99 would-be base stealers (22 percent)....Named the No. 25 prospect in the Padres organization heading into the 2009 season by Baseball America. 2008 Played the entire season for Single-A Lake Elsinore...finished fifth among all Padres farmhands with 81 RBI....Threw out 30 of 161 runners attempting to steal (18.6 percent)....Hit .318 (28-for-88) off left-handed pitching compared to .277 (91-for-329) against righties...hit .311 (46-for-148) with runners in scoring position....In 22 June tilts, batted .321 (27-for-84) with seven doubles, three home runs, 17 RBI and 15 runs scored....Hit at a .360 clip (9-for-25) with seven RBI in seven playoff games for the Storm as the team fell one-game short of reaching the Cal League finals. 2007 Made his professional debut with Short-A Eugene and batted .293 (34-for-116) in 28 games....Missed part of the season due to a groin injury but did not go on the DL....Hit .310 (9-for-29) with one double, one home run and six RBI off left-handed pitching....Threw out 10 of 32 would-be base stealers (31.3 percent)....Promoted to Single-A Lake Elsinore 8/25 and played in two regular season games and one playoff contest with the Storm.
