Yankees extend 25 invitations to Spring Training

The Yankees announced on Friday that they have invited 25 players to Major League Spring Training, including outfielder Aaron Judge, infielder Jorge Mateo and right-hander James Kaprielian, who have been rated as the organization's top three prospects by MLB Pipeline.

Jonathan Diaz...Is a 2003 graduate of Coral Gables (FL) High School...Earned honourable-mention All-Dade County by The Miami Herald after hitting .323 with 6 doubles and 1 home run as a senior in 2003...Attended North Carolina State University where he played baseball and majored in computer engineering...Led all ACC shortstops in fielding percentage as a sophomore in 2005...Married with three children.

Selected to BOS's active roster from Triple-A Pawtucket on June 29...Appeared in 5 games (1 start) before being optioned back to the PawSox on July 6...Outrighted to Triple-A on July 8...Made his ML debut in a start at 3B on June 29 vs. TOR...Scored the game-winning run as a pinch-runner in a 5-4 walk-off victory over the Blue Jays on June 30...Played 101 regular season games for the International League North Division Champion PawSox...In regular season, appeared defensively at 2B (43 G), 3B (26 G), and SS (25 G)...Also pitched twice, allowing two runs on six hits with two strikeouts in 3.0 innings (6.00 ERA)...Played eight postseason games for Pawtucket, all at 3B, batting .172 (5-for-29) with two RBI and four walks...Played winter ball in the Dominican Republic, batting .261 with one home run and 15 RBI in 45 games.
