Married Heather … attended the University of California-Irvine … led the Anteaters to a berth in the 2007 College World Series as a senior, going 6-4 with a 3.96 ERA and four saves … also attended Santa Barbara City College … is a 2003 graduate of Santa Barbara (Calif.) High School.

2014

Spent most of the season in Class AAA, where in 22 starts and 2 relief apps for Charlotte and Louisville he went 8-9, 4.01 with 1 shutout....on 7/16 was traded from the White Sox to the Reds for cash...reported to Louisville, where he went 2-1, 3.06 in 5 starts before he was promoted on 8/16...made his Reds debut in the nightcap of the day/night doubleheader on 8/17 at Col and in that 10-5 loss was the victim of a blown save when the Rockies overcame a 5-2 deficit with 3 runs in the seventh inning and 5 more in the eighth...was scheduled to pitch on 8/16 but was pushed back a day after the water main broke outside Coors Field...was optioned to Louisville following that 8/17 start but returned to Cin to start the 7-2 win vs Cubs on 8/28 and the 6-0 loss on 9/3 at Bal...was injured in his next start, on 9/8 vs StL, when after 1 batter he suffered a strained right oblique...became the first Reds starting pitcher in a regular season game to be credited with 0 or 1 batter faced since Don Newcombe was not credited with any batters faced on 7/17/60/g2 at Pit...didn't pitch again for the Reds until 9/27 vs Pit, when in relief in the 161st game of the season he earned the 10-6 win on the heels of Ramon Santiago's 10th-inning, walkoff grand slam...following the season made 7 starts for Toros del Este in the Dominican Winter League (3-1, 3.23, 30.2ip, 27h, 7bb, 23k, 2hr).
