Justin Grimm is in his sixth professional season ... he was acquired by Chicago from Texas in July of 2013 with infielder Mike Olt and pitchers Carl Edwards Jr. and Neil Ramirez for pitcher Matt Garza … has gone 16-17 with three saves and a 4.64 ERA (119 ER/230.2 IP) and 226 strikeouts in 167 career major league games (19 starts) between the Rangers (2012-13) and Cubs (2013-15). Is 8-9 with three saves and a 2.96 ERA (42 ER/127.2 IP) in 145 relief appearances with the Cubs. Rated by Baseball America as the Rangers top right-handed starter and fifth overall best prospect entering the 2013 campaign. Named to the 2012 Texas League mid-season All Star team while with Double-A Frisco. Went 4-1 with a 1.59 ERA (5 ER/28.1 IP) in five April starts in 2012 to be named Texas Rangers Minor League Pitcher of the Month. Made his big league debut in 2012 despite being just two years removed from the University of Georgia. w Became the club's first player from the 2010 June draft to appear in the big leagues. Tabbed as the 18th-best prospect in the Carolina League by Baseball America entering the 2011 season. Participated in the 2015 Cubs Caravan. Placed on the 15-day D.L., April 10 (retroactive to April 2), with right forearm inflammation ... did not appear in a big league game before going on the shelf ... activated, May 6, after making one rehab appearance with Triple-A Iowa. Earned his first career save, July 1 at the Mets ... struck out one batter in 0.1 innings as the Cubs won, 2-0 in 11 innings. Recorded a career-best 15.0-scoreless innings streak from July 21-August 29 ... fanned 16 batters and walked one during the stretch. Combined to throw 146.0 innings between four clubs... Made his Cubs debut, September 6 vs. Milwaukee, tossing a scoreless inning while walking one... Threw a season-high 1.1 innings of relief while allowing two runs in Chicago's 3-1 setback vs. Milwaukee, September 8... Held opponents scoreless in eight of his 10 relief appearances with Chicago...
