An MRI performed on Cubs outfielder Jason Heyward revealed a contusion on the right side of his rib cage. He's expected to miss three to five days and will not be put on the disabled list.

Ramirez to bereavement list; Patton fills spot

Cubs reliever Neil Ramirez was placed on the bereavement list on Thursday to attend his grandmother's funeral, and right-handed reliever Spencer Patton was called up from Triple-A Iowa. Ramirez will miss a minimum of three games, and a maximum of seven.
