Zimm heads back to DL; Norris to start Tuesday

The Tigers' hopes to avoid returning Jordan Zimmermann to the disabled list proved short-lived. Detroit placed the veteran right-hander back on the 15-day DL after Saturday night's 6-5 win over the Mets with an aggravation of his right neck strain and will recall left-hander Daniel Norris from Triple-A Toledo on Monday to take his place in the rotation.

Resides in Valencia, VZ during the offseason with his fiance, Julieth. Participates in the Tigers Autographed Memorabilia Donation program and participated in the Tigers Winter Caravan, TigerFest and a pregame ceremony prior to the Fiesta Tigres! game. Recommended/signed by German Robles, Pedro Chavez and Miguel Garcia for the Tigers.

Appeared in 35 games with the Tigers in 2015...posted a 1-0 record with five saves, a 5.81 ERA (31.0IP/20ER) and 36 strikeouts. Sidelined from April 1-June 15 with bicipital tendinitis. Began an injury rehab assignment with Triple-A Toledo on May 21 -- made nine injury rehab outings with the Mud Hens, compiling a 1-2 record with a 10.38 ERA (8.2IP/10ER) and nine strikeouts. Reinstated from the 15-day disabled list and optioned to Triple-A Toledo on June 15. Recalled from Triple-A Toledo on June 25.
