Twins utility man Danny Santana was diagnosed with a Grade 2 shoulder sprain, and he is expected to miss the rest of the season, manager Paul Molitor said Wednesday.

Twins call up veteran Schafer rather than Buxton

Byron Buxton was named the International League Batter of the Week on Monday, but it was veteran outfielder Logan Schafer who was recalled to join the Twins with Danny Santana placed on the 15-day disabled list with a strained left shoulder.

Made Twins Opening Day roster for first time in career and was Opening Day shortstop and leadoff hitter April 6 at Detroit.... Hit .218 (39-for-179) with seven doubles, three triples, 11 RBI and two walks in 49 games and was optioned to Triple-A Rochester June 7....Set season-high with four hits for Red Wings June 10 vs. Indianapolis.... Hit .308 (20-for-65) with six doubles and three triples in 15 games for the Wings and was recalled June 26 when the Twins placed Byron Buxton on disabled list....
