Tony, a left-handed hitting outfielder, made his major league debut with Chicago in 2011 after he was selected by the organization in the 13th round of the 2008 draft...Batted .259 in 95 contests for Chicago in 2011, stealing 24 bases while being caught just twice. His 24 stolen bases in 2011 were the most by a Cub rookie since Ced Landrum swiped 27 bags in 1991...Owns a .303 career minor league batting average (357-for-1,178) in 312 games...has collected 144 stolen bases while being caught 42 times...Named to the Southern League post-season All-Star team in 2010...His 66 stolen bases between Single-A Peoria and Single-A Daytona in 2009 led the Cubs chain...Graduated from the University of Cincinnati...attended UNC Asheville prior to that...Graduated from Springboro (Ohio) High School in 2004...Voted the winner of the 2011 Tony Conigliaro Award, annually presented to a major league player "who has overcome adversity through the attributes of spirit, determination and courage." Major League teams submit nominations for the award and an independent 12-person panel does the voting...Was diagnosed with Hodgkin's lymphoma, a cancer of the lymph tissue found in the lymph nodes, spleen, liver and bone marrow when he was a child...after 10 years of treatment, doctors declared him cured...Participated in the 2012 Cubs Caravan...Joined the D-backs after the 2012 season.

2012 Tony had a breakout year with the Cubs, batting .264 and stealing 30 bases. 2011 Tony saw big league action for the first time in his career, leading the Cubs with 24 stolen bases in 95 games...he batted .259 (37-for-143) with 24 runs, eight walks, three doubles, one homer and six RBI...His 24 stolen bases were the most by a Cub since Ryan Theriot swiped 28 in 2007...they were the most by a Cubs rookie since Ced Landrum swiped 27 bases in 1991...Was caught stealing just twice, and his 92.3-percent success rate was tops in the majors - San Diego's Will Venable was second, having gone 26-for-29 in stolen base attempts (89.7).
