In the aftermath of Wednesday's trade that sent Lucas Harrell and Dario Alvarez to the Rangers for Travis Demeritte, the Braves recalled relievers Jose Ramirez and Matt Marksberry from Triple-A Gwinnett on Thursday.

The Braves placed right-hander Williams Perez on the 15-day disabled list with a right rotator cuff strain and recalled John Gant from Triple-A Gwinnett before Wednesday afternoon's series finale against the Padres at Petco Park.

Resides in Sarasota, Florida...Originally signed a letter of intent with the University of Tennessee as a quarterback before turning full-time attention to baseball...Was highly-touted high school quarterback, throwing for 4,212 career yards and 37 touchdowns...His father, Pat Kelly, played 13 years of pro ball, making his Major League debut for the Blue Jays in 1980...Uncle, Mike Kelly, played six seasons in the Majors...Brother Chris, and cousin, Dustin, played minor league baseball...Signed by Anthony Turco (Red Sox).

2015

Pitched at three levels in 2015, including a brief stint (three games) with the San Diego Padres…In his first full season back from "Tommy John" surgery, spent the majority of the 2015 campaign between the San Diego Padres' Triple-A and Double-A affiliates, making a combined 31 appearances, including 17 starts…Posted a 3.13 ERA through his first 15 appearances (one start) of the season and finished the year with a 2-10 record and a 5.16 ERA…Worked in relief in his first 14 games of the season, pitching at a 3.79 ERA, while striking out 17 in 19.0 innings. Had a 1-3 record and converted one of three save opportunities…Transitioned to a starter's role on 5/28 and made 17 minor league starts through the remainder of the season. Went 1-7 with a 5.49 ERA (48 ER/78.2 IP) with opponents' batting .300 in those starts…Made nine consecutive appearances without allowing an earned run totaling 12.0 innings from 4/23-5/20.

2014

Missed his second consecutive season while recovering from Tommy John surgery (performed on 4/1/13)...Made four starts on a rehab assignment from 5/3-19 with two for Single-A Lake Elsinore and two for Double-A San Antonio, going 1-0 with a 2.21 ERA (5 ER, 20.1 IP) and 17 strikeouts vs. one walk...Had his rehab assignment cut short after suffering soreness in his right elbow, missing the remainder of the season.

Missed the entire season due to Tommy John surgery...Surgery performed on April 1 by Dr. James Andrews.

2012 Missed time while on the minor league disabled list, making eight starts between Rookie-Level Peoria, Double-A San Antonio and Triple-A Tucson before seeing his first Major League action with six starts for the Padres to end the season. Selected from Double-A San Antonio on 8/27 and made his Big League debut that day with a start vs. ATL...worked 6.0 scoreless innings,allowing just three hits and two walks while striking out four to notch his first career victory, combining with Tommy Layne(1.0), Dale Thayer (1.0) and Luke Gregerson (1.0) on a 3-0 shutout of the Braves...his debut came on his father, Pat Kelly's, 57th birthday. Collected his first Major League hit in his debut with a single. Earned his second career victory on 9/15 vs. COL in his fourth Big League start. Missed time in the minors from 4/12-7/23 due to a right elbow injury...began rehab stint with Rookie-Level Peoria on 7/23, making three starts for Peoria from 7/23-8/4. After being reinstated from the DL in the minors, made three starts for Double-A San Antonio before being selected by the Padres on 8/27.
