Braves add pitching depth with two trades

The Braves acquired a pair right-handed pitchers on Wednesday in separate trades with the Cubs and Mariners. Atlanta received Josh Collmenter from Chicago in exchange for cash considerations and also added Joe Wieland from Seattle for a player to be named and cash considerations.

Joseph Andrew Wieland…graduate of Bishop Monogue HS in Reno, NV...posted a 2.04 ERA while also hitting .556 with 12 homers his senior season…named the Nevada State Player of the Year by the Las Vegas Review Journal and the Reno Gazette Journal…signed a letter of intent with San Diego State University before signing with the Rangers…selected by the Texas Rangers in the 4th round of the 2008 First-Year Player Draft and signed by scout Butch Metzger.

The Totals - Spent most of season with AAA Oklahoma City, going 10-5 with a 4.59 ERA (58 ER, 113.2 IP) with 92 strikeouts in 22 games (21 starts). ...
