2014

Placed on the 15-Day DL on March 21 before being transferred to the 60-day DL on March 29, due to right elbow surgery...His second "Tommy John" surgery of his career was performed by Dr. Neal ElAttrache in Los Angeles on March 21...Made three Spring Training starts prior to the injury, going 1-0 and allowing two runs in 6.2 innings (2.70 ERA)...Saw his first postseason action and appeared in Games 2 and 3 of the National League Division Series against Atlanta

2013

Returned from "Tommy John" surgery and was limited to five starts, going 2-1 with a 4.50 ERA with 23 strikeouts in 30 innings pitched, as his 2013 season was bookended with disabled list stints. Opened the year on the disabled list as he recovered from "Tommy John" surgery performed June 21, 2012. Was activated off the disabled list on 7/29 and made his first start of the season that evening (3.2 IP, 8 H, 7 R, 7 ER, 1 BB, 5 K). After making his fifth start on 8/20, was shut down for the remainder of the season due to inflammation in his right elbow. Underwent arthroscopic surgery to remove a bone spur and debride inflamed tissue performed by Dr. James Andrews in Pensacola, Fla., on 9/26. Posted a "quality start" in three of his five starts. Four of his five starts came against opponents from the National League East division (2-1, 2.73). Posted back-to-back wins, 8/9 and 8/14, allowing a combined two earned runs in 14.0 innings (1.29 ERA) . Made nine rehabilitation starts across three different levels during a two-month span, 5/24-7/24, compiling a 3-4 record with a 2.93 ERA over 40.0 innings pitched. He went 25 days, from 6/13 to 7/9, between starts due to inflammation in his elbow that caused a minor setback in his recovery.

2012 Left 6/16's game vs. BAL after completing just 3.2 innings with right elbow inflammation. He retired his first 11 batters faced of the game, including five via strikeout, before walking his final batter faced. He underwent an MRI (on 6/18) which revealed a partial tear of the ulnar collateral ligament. Was placed on the 15-day disabled list on 6/16 and underwent successful "Tommy John" surgery on 6/21 to reconstruct the partially torn ulnar collateral ligament in his right elbow. The operation was performed in Gulf Breeze, Fla., by Dr. James Andrews. At the time of his surgery, he was tied for the Major-League-lead with a 1.98 ERA(17 ER/77.1 IP) and led the Majors with a .171 opponents' batting average (among qualifying starting pitchers). Posted a career-best five-game winning streak from 4/15-5/17. During the seven-start stretch, Beachy pitched to a 1.29 ERA while holding opponents to a .174 average and recording seven "quality" starts. Went 2-1 with a 1.05 ERA in April, followed by a 3-2, 2.23 mark in May. All six of his home runs allowed came against right-handed batters. 2011 Had an impressive first full season with the Major League club, going 7-3 with a 3.68 ERA and striking out 169 batters, compared to 46 walks in 141. 2 IP...Paced the Braves pitching staff and ranked second among MLB rookie pitchers with 169 strikeouts (Michael Pineda, 173)...Set the Braves franchise modern-era (since 1900) rookie strikeout mark for a single season with 169. He trailed only Bill Stemmeyer for the franchise record (239 in 1886 with the Boston Beaneaters)...His SO/9 IP ratio of 10.74 ranked fourth all-time among rookie starting pitchers (min. 25 starts), behind only Kerry Wood (12.58 in 1998), Dwight Gooden (11.39 in 1984) and Hideo Nomo (11.10 in 1995)...Averaged 10.74 strikeouts/9.0 IP, the top average among major league rookie starting pitchers.
