The Dodgers placed pitcher Hyun-Jin Ryu on the 15-day disabled list with left elbow tendinitis on Tuesday and activated outfielder Joc Pederson, who missed 15 games with a slight right shoulder separation.

Hyun-Jin Ryu…single…resides in Incheon, South Korea…is an avid golfer...following the 2013 MLB season, received the Cultural Achievement Award from the Asia Society Korea Center for his contribution to US-Korea relations and mutual goodwill through sports...has a charity foundation in Korea, the HJ99 Foundation, which helps underprivileged youths play baseball...has an annual fundraising golf tournament in addition to hosting a celebrity baseball game and a charity dinner in Korea to benefit the foundation...also released two pop singles this offseason in Korea with stars Hyuna and G.NA with the proceeds going to his foundation...joined other prominent public figures in delivering a speech at the 2014 Samsung "Passion Talk" series, which aims to provide guidance and advice to youngsters...gave pitching lessons at the Change Up junior baseball camp in Korea on Dec. 6, 2014... appeared on the popular Korean reality show "Running Man" on SBS in 2013...participated in the Dodgers' 2013 and 2014 Pitching in the Community Caravan and FanFest...signed by Los Angeles on Dec. 12, 2012 after his posting by the Hanwha Eagles of the Korea Baseball Organization.

Named to Baseball America's 2013 All-Rookie Team and ranked among the top big league rookies in wins (14, T-2nd), winning percentage (.636, T-3rd), ERA (3.00, 2nd), strikeouts (154, 4th), innings pitched (192.0, 1st) and starts (30, T-3rd)...His 14 wins tied with Kazuhisa Ishii (14-10, 2002) for the second-most by a Los Angeles rookie behind only Rick Sutcliffe's 17 Ws in 1979…his .636 winning percentage (14-8) was the fifth-best mark by a Los Angeles rookie... 2012 Selected to his seventh consecutive All-Star team, going 9-9 with a 2.66 ERA in 27 starts with Hanwha of the Korea Baseball Organization. Picked up his fifth KBO strikeout title, fanning a career-high 210 hitters in 182.2 innings...struck out 66 more than any other KBO pitcher. Averaged 10.4 strikeouts per 9.0 innings, while issuing an average of just 2.27 walks per game. Ranked fifth in the league with a 2.66 ERA. Limited opponents to a .232 batting average and a 1.09 WHIP.
