Williams joined the Cubs on a minor league deal in January of this year following eight years with the Atlanta Braves organization that included 34 games (31 starts) with the Braves spanning the 2015-16 campaigns...Is 9-9 with a complete game, one save and a 5.18 ERA (98 ER/170.1 IP) in his 34 major league outings (31 starts) ... has walked 66 and struck out 100...Owns a 32-27 record with three complete games, one shutout, one save and a 3.30 ERA (200 ER/546.0 IP) in 118 career minor league games, including 98 starts...Was a Southern League mid-season and post-season All-Star in 2014 for Double-A Mississippi ... started the Southern League All-Star Game for the South squad, tossing a scoreless inning.

2016

Williams missed part of the season for Atlanta due to a right rotator cuff strain that landed him on the 15-day disabled list, June 7 ... transferred to the 60-day D.L., August 7, before he was activated, September 2 ... all told, went 2-3 with a 6.04 ERA (36 ER/53.2 IP) in 11 starts in his final season with the Braves...Right-handed hitters batted .248 (26-for-105) against him with a .292 on-base percentage while lefties hit .295 (31-for-105) with a .353 OBP...Was 2-1 with a 3.08 ERA (9 ER/26.1 IP) in four May starts, walking four and striking out 13...Tied his career high with 8.0 innings pitched, May 11 vs. the Phillies ... allowed one run on two hits and no walks while he struck out four in the 5-1 victory...While on the shelf, went 0-1 with a 4.91 ERA (6 ER/11.0 IP) in three rehab appearances with the Gulf Coast League Braves, Single-A Rome and Triple-A Gwinnett from August 22-September 1...Made two starts after being activated, allowing 11 runs in 5.0 total innings to raise his ERA from 4.62 to 6.04.

Split the season between Triple-A Gwinnett and Atlanta, making his MLB debut and going 7-6 with one save and a 4.78 ERA in 23 games, 20 starts for the Braves. Also landed on the 15-day disabled list from 6/27-7/31, and missed 28 games with a left foot contusion…Ranked sixth among NL rookies in wins (7) and innings pitched (116.2). Was one of four NL rookies to toss a complete game, with San Francisco's Chris Heston the only one to throw two. His 20 starts ranked seventh among NL rookies and he became one of 10 Braves pitchers since 1990 to make at least 20 starts in his rookie season…Opened the season with the G-Braves before being recalled on 5/6 and making his MLB debut two days later at WSH.
