Yankees outfielder Slade Heathcott, who missed the team bus on Thursday to a game against the Pirates in Bradenton, Fla., was optioned to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre and sent to Minor League camp on Tuesday.

Full name is Zachary Slade Heathcott...has a son, Kysen (born February 2015)... graduated from Texas High School, where he was a third-team All-State selection and named first-team All-District as a senior...Is on the board of the "IamMore Foundation," an organization with a mission focused on positive self image for children living with chronic illness or physical disabilities by building relationships and facilitating opportunities for them to be identified by their passion, rather than their affliction...Was an AFLAC All-American selection as a left-handed pitcher in 2008, while also playing outfield at various events, including the Perfect Game National Showcase and the Area Code Games...In 2009, was ranked by Baseball America as the 72nd-best prospect (18th-best high school position player) in the draft...was also tabbed by the publication as the 10th-best prospect in the state of Texas.

Batted .400 (10-for-25) with 6R, 2 doubles, 2HR, 8RBI and 2BB in 17 games (four starts in CF and two starts in RF) over two stints with the Yankees (5/20-30 and 9/12-10/4)...Made his Major League debut on 5/20 at Washington, pinch-running for Mark Teixeira in the eighth and remaining in game in CF (did not bat)...was signed to a Major League contract and selected to the Yankees' 25-man roster prior to the game... Opened his season with the GCL Yankees, batting .235 (4-for-17) with 2 doubles and 2RBI in five games... Spent the remainder of the season with Single-A Tampa, hitting .307 (66-for-215) with 23 extra-base hits (16 doubles, 2 triples, 5HR) and 27RBI in 60 games... Following the season, played in 18 games with the Scottsdale Scorpions of the Arizona Fall League and hit .388 (26-for-67) with 6 doubles, 1 triple, 1HR and 15RBI… ranked second in the league in on-base percentage (.494) and slugging percentage (.612) and fourth in batting average… was named the AFL "Player of the Week" for 10/29-11/2 after going 6-for-9 (.667) with a league-high 3 triples, 13 total bases and 6RBI during the span.

Spent the majority of the season with Single-A Charleston, hitting .271 (57-for-210) with 11 doubles, 4 triples, 4HR and 16RBI in 52 games... Was named a South Atlantic League midseason All-Star… hit .370 (30-for-81) in 20 April contests, scoring a league-best 25R during the month... Was promoted to Single-A Tampa on 6/29, but suffered a season-ending shoulder injury after playing in just one game.
