Full name is Bryan Bedford Mitchell…was committed to play baseball for the University of North Carolina, but instead signed with the Yankees. Graduated from Rockingham County High School in Reidsville, N.C. in June 2009…was on the baseball team and played right field and designated hitter in games he did not pitch…was named to the North Carolina Baseball Coaches Association All-Star team in 2009…was named the top prospect at the 2008 Atlantic Coast Top Prospect Showcase…was also honored on All-Conference and All-Area teams…as a junior in 2008, went 8-1 with a 1.67 ERA in 63.0IP (38BB, 96K)…as a senior in 2009, was 5-2 with a 0.62 ERA in 45.1IP (18BB, 87K).

2016

Went 1-2 with a 3.24 ERA (25.0IP, 26H, 13R/9ER, 12BB, 11K, 1HR) over five starts in his lone stint with the Yankees (9/6-10/2)…held opponents to a .277 (26-for-94) BA; LH .270 (10-for-37, 0HR), RH .281 (16-for-57, 1HR)…was the only pitcher drafted by the Yankees to make a start for the club in 2016.Earned his first Major League win with 5.0 shutout innings (4H, 2BB, 2K) on 9/7 vs. Toronto…was the third Yankees pitcher since 2010 to throw at least 5.0 scoreless innings in his season debut, joining Iván Nova (6.2IP on 6/24/15 vs. Philadelphia) and Alfredo Aceves (5.1IP in relief on 5/4/14 vs. Tampa Bay)…was the first Yankee to make his season debut in September and toss at least 5.0 scoreless innings since Dave Eiland (8.1IP on 9/10/90 vs. Texas).
