Mariners general manager Jerry Dipoto said lefty James Paxton will be limited to one inning in his Wednesday start for Triple-A Tacoma as part of an innings-control plan.

James Alston Paxton…native of Ladner, British Columbia, a suburb of Vancouver 22 miles from the border crossing in Blaine, WA…attended Delta Secondary School where he helped win BC's Best Tournament Championship as a junior and senior…went 7-1 with a 1.70 ERA with 65 strikeouts as a senior…three-time member of the SEC Academic Honor Roll…pitched for the University of Kentucky from 2007-09… was 11-5 with a 4.91 ERA (81 ER, 148.1 IP) and 168 strikeouts in 55 games (24 starts) for the Wildcats…finished his junior season (2009) ranked 17th in the nation and 4th in the SEC with 115 strikeouts…also ranked 3rd in the NCAA averaging 13.22 strikeouts per 9.0 innings…selected by Toronto in the supplemental first round (39th overall) in the 2009 June draft, but did not sign.
