The Nats made a pair of late changes from their original starting lineup prior to Saturday's game against the Astros, scratching outfielders Jayson Werth because of a sore knee and Michael Taylor, who had replaced Werth in the lineup but is dealing with a family issue.

Michael Anthony Taylor...Is a 2009 graduate of Westminister (FL) Academy where he played with former National Matt den Dekker.

Made Washington's Opening Day roster for the second straight season...Enjoyed three separate stints with the Nationals in 2016...Clubbed a team-high three leadoff home runs for the Nationals (4/15 at PHI off J. Hellickson, 4/29 at STL off M. Leake, 6/19 at SDP off D. Pomeranz)...Recorded his first career multi-home run game, June 19 at SDP (4-for-4, 2B, 2 HR, 2 RBI, 2 R, SB)...Hit safely in 18 straight starts from May 3 to June 20 (.329, 8 2B, 3 HR, 7 RBI, 3 BB, 6 SB, 13 R)...Hit .205 with five doubles, a triple, a home run, nine RBI, 12 walks, seven stolen bases and 17 runs scored in 31 games for Triple-A Syracuse...Appeared in the Postseason for the first time.

Began the season with Double-A Harrisburg before being promoted to Triple-A Syracuse on Aug. 2 and eventually was summoned to D.C. on Aug. 12 for his big league debut...Posted first hit (2nd-inn. single off R.Montero) and home run (6th inn. 2-run off C. Torres) in MLB debut, Aug. 12 at New York Mets... At top two levels/110 games in Washington's chain, ranked among system leaders in batting (4th, .304), home runs (2nd, 23) & stolen bases (3rd, 37)... Hit .313 with 22 HR, 61 RBI and 34 stolen bases in 98 games and finished second in balloting for Double-A Eastern League MVP...Following the season, was ranked by Baseball America as the top prospect in the Eastern League...Was selected to play in the Sirius-XM All-Star Futures game in Minneapolis...Garnered several honors throughout the season: MiLB.com Organization All-Star, Baseball America Minor League All-Star, Eastern League Rookie of the Year, and Eastern League mid-season and post-season All-Star.
