Christopher Ryan McGuiness...Wife's name is Allyson...Is a 2006 graduate of James Island Charter High School in Charleston, SC...Was named to the 7-AAAA all-region team all four years of high school and was selected to all-state squad in 2006...Played baseball at The Citadel, where he batted .367 with 15 homers and 59 RBI while leading the nation with 65 walks in his final season (2009)...Earned first team All-Southern Conference honors and was also named to the ESPN the Magazine Academic All-America Team...Also went 3-5 with a 6.30 ERA (70.0ip/49er) and 40 strikeouts in 21 games (14 starts) as a collegiate pitcher.

Was with Cleveland during spring training after being selected by the Indians in the Rule 5 Draft on 12/16/12...Was returned to the Texas organization on 3/27...Spent majority of season with Triple-A Round Rock, where he made 90 appearances at first base and five in left field...Also went 7-for-35 (.200) with a homer and 11 RBI in nine games as the designated hitter...Homered twice and knocked in six runs in his fifth game on 4/8 vs. Iowa...Tallied his second professional triple on 5/9 at Las Vegas...Reached base safely in 24 of his 27 games during the month of May, hitting .313 (30-for-96) with a .422 on-base percentage and a .902 OPS...Was selected by Texas on 6/6 and went 0-for-3 in his first Major League start/game on 6/7 at Toronto...Went 2-for-4 with an RBI in his second game on 6/9 at Toronto; doubled off Josh Johnson for first big league hit and RBI...Made 10 appearances (nine starts) with the Rangers before being optioned back to Round Rock on 6/18...Made three straight starts in left field from 7/27-29...Scored four runs on 8/19 at Nashville...Swiped lone base (fifth career) on 8/20 at Nashville...Hit safely in season-high eight straight games from 8/21-28 (10-for-34, .294)...Was acquired by Pittsburgh on 12/30.
