Canha...attended University of California-Berkeley, where he was teammate of Marlins' Minor Leaguer Michael Brady...garnered All-Pac-10 and team MVP honors following sophomore and junior seasons...attended Bellarmine College Prep in San Jose, Calif., and was named 2007 West Catholic Athletic League MVP...also, earned two First-Team All-Section honors and two First-Team All-League honors.

Spent the entire season at Triple-A New Orleans where he batted a career-high .303 with 20 home runs and 82 RBI in 127 games…added 57 walks for a career-high .384 on-base percentage…also had career highs in at bats (465), runs (83), hits (141), extra base hits (51) and strikeouts (112) and matched his best in triples (3)…ranked sixth in the Pacific Coast League in runs, eighth in on-base percentage, ninth in hits and RBI and 10th in total bases (235)…ranked second in the Marlins farm system in home runs,fourth in RBI and seventh in batting…led the Zephyrs in runs, hits, walks and on-base percentage…hit.311 (103-for-331) against right-handed pitching compared to .284 (38-for-134) against left-handers…had a .331 batting average with runners in scoring position…12 of his 20 home runs came with runners on base…batted .259 when leading off an inning…appeared in 61 games in left field, 40 at first base and18 at third base…had five assists as an outelder…committed two errors as an outfielder (.983 fielding percentage), two as a first baseman (.994) and three as a third baseman (.909)…hit .400 with eight homeruns and 32 RBI in his 40 games at first base…saw his most action with 78 games batting third in theorder…hit in every spot in the order except rst, second and eighth…hit .100 with a home run and seven RBI in 17 games for Cibaenas in the Dominican Winter League following the season.
