The Astros placed struggling outfielder Carlos Gomez on the 15-day disabled list Tuesday with a bruised left rib cage, replacing him on the 25-man roster with third-base prospect Colin Moran, who is set to join the team for Tuesday's opener of a three-game series against the White Sox at U.S. Cellular Field.

Last name is pronounced: wo-juh-HOW-ski. Graduated from Beaufort High School in South Carolina ... earned three letters in baseball and one in football. Went on to attend The Citadel, The Military College of South Carolina, where he majored in business administration... during his junior year in 2010, earned Southern Conference Pitcher of the Year honors after finishing second in the nation with 155 strikeouts and fifth in the country with 12 victories...went 12-3 with a 3.58 ERA (50ER/125.2IP) during that season en route to getting named a 2010 Golden Spikes Award semifinalist and National Pitcher of the Year quarterfinalist ... his 12 wins tied a school record...his 125.2 innings ranked second in school history for a single season and his 155 strikeouts ranked third. Pitched for USA Baseball's college national team in the summer of 2009...ranks third alltime in The Citadel's history with 308 career strikeouts. Became the first player from The Citadel ever to be taken in the first round when the Blue Jays took him in the supplemental first round (41st overall) of the June 2010 draft ... was signed by Blue Jays scout John Hendricks. Lived in the Dominican Republic, Bulgaria and Romania as a child as his parents, Randy and Carol, were missionaries ...
