In 2014 tied for the California League lead in starts...was named Midwest League Pitcher of the Week for 7/8-7/14, 2013.


His 69 apps led all Major League rookies and ranked second on the Reds' staff (Michael Lorenzen, 70g)...from 9/3-9/17 missed 14 games with a right hip flexor strain...returned on 9/19 and finished the season with a 1.80 ERA in his final 6 apps (5ip, 1er, .143baa)...a staff-high 14 times pitched on consecutive days...twice in a 9-day span pitched a career-high 3 days in a row (8/9-8/11, 8/15-8/17)...Blake Wood (6/2-6/4) and Raisel Iglesias (8/23-8/25) were the only other Reds to pitch 3 straight days...from 6/26-7/19 produced career-high scoreless streaks of 10 games and 12.0 innings...in his last 7 apps of the first half retired 24 of 25 batters faced (8.2ip, 0h, 1bb, 6k)...11 times threw more than 1.0 inning, including a career-high 2.0 innings on 6/26 at StL...entered that game vs the Cardinals in the sixth inning with the bases loaded and no outs but stranded all 3 baserunners after inducing Yadier Molina into a 5-2-3 GIDP and Luke Voit into a groundout to short...in the 7-1 win on 4/10 at Pit threw a perfect ninth inning...combined with Michael Lorenzen (3ip) and Cody Reed (3ip) to throw 7.0 perfect innings...Reds relievers threw 7.0 hitless innings in a game for the first time in franchise history...in the ninth inning of the 2-0 loss on 4/19 vs Bal recorded 3 strikeouts on 10 pitches, 1 day after Drew Storen recorded an "immaculate inning" of 3 strikeouts on 9 pitches...threw a perfect seventh inning in the 5-4 win on 4/30 at StL and earned his first Major League victory after the Reds snapped the 4-4 tie with a run in the eighth...with 1 out in the eighth inning on 9/2 at Pit, allowed Jordan Luplow's first career HR (3-run) and then left the game with an 0-2 count on Jose Osuna (pain in right hip)...missed 14 games until he pitched again on 9/19...retired the first batter in 52 of his 69 relief apps...stranded 17 of his 26 inherited baserunners...went 0-for-2 in save opps...the Reds went 28-41 in games in which he pitched.


Spent most of the season in the minor leagues but in his Major League debut made 10 apps in relief as a September callup for the Reds...was 1 of 12 Reds players and 10 pitchers to make his Major League debut and 1 of a club-record 32 pitchers overall...became the 12th Reds player to make his Major League debut this season and the club's 30th pitcher, tying the franchise record for number of pitchers used in a season (2003)...the Reds eventually established a new record by using 32 pitchers...on 9/4 vs StL made his Major League debut by throwing a hitless seventh inning, then in the sixth frame the next day Mon vs NYM retired his only batter (lineout double play) to strand 2 baserunners...his first career strikeout victim was Jedd Gyorko on 9/4 vs StL...spent the minor league season at Pensacola and Louisville, where combined he went 4-2, 2.50 with 3 saves in 2 starts and 48 relief apps (75.2ip, 61h, 26bb, 58k, 3hr)...on 5/13 was promoted from Pensacola to Louisville...on 9/2 was promoted to Cin...at Louisville, didn't allow an earned run over 11 apps from 6/9-7/10 (22.1ip).
