For the second straight day, a Marlins reliever has been placed on the disabled list. On Friday, Odrisamer Despaigne was placed on the 10-day DL with a right forearm strain, and right-hander Nick Wittgren was recalled from Triple-A New Orleans.

Marlins reliever Odrisamer Despaigne, the club's most versatile pitcher, was lifted on Thursday night due to a right forearm strain. The injury occurred in a seven-run sixth inning during Miami's 12-3 loss to the Brewers at Miller Park.

Odrisamer (oh-DREE-sah-mer) Orue Despaigne (deh-SPAWN-yay)...married to Arlenys...played professionally for Havana Industriales of Cuba's Serie Nacional for eight seasons before signing with San Diego...posted a career 61-43 record and 3.55 ERA (957.1/378) with 684 strikeouts and 390 walks in 213 games.

2017

In fourth professional campaign, combined to go 4-7 with three saves and a 3.40 ERA (132.1 ip/50 er) in 39 appearances (19 starts) between Single-A Jupiter, Triple-A New Orleans and Miami. ..In eight starts with Marlins, went 2-3 with 4.06 ERA (44.1/20). In 10 relief outings, had no record and 3.86 ERA (14.0/6)...With New Orleans, had 2-3 mark with 2.83 ERA (47.2/15) in 10 starts, while going 0-1 with two saves and 3.63 ERA (22.1/9) in 10 appearances...Opened season on 10-day disabled list with a strained left oblique. Sent to NOLA upon reinstatement on April 11. Was recalled briefly on two occasions, from May 5-6 and May 17-19, before being recalled for remainder of season on July 28...Made five starts to open his season with NOLA, going 0-2, 4.15 before shifting to the bullpen for next seven appearances. Six of those seven relief outings were multiple innings, including two 3.0-inning outings...Returned to rotation on June 20 but bounced between there and 'pen for remainder of time in NOLA, making five starts and three relief outings in final eight appearances... Split season between starting rotation (17 starts) and bullpen (37 appearances) with Baltimore, Triple-A Norfolk and Miami, going a combined 1- 11 with a 4.40 ERA (118.2 ip/58 er)...Opened season in starting rotation with Norfolk, making 12 starts prior to being recalled by Baltimore on June 14. Prior to recall, posted 1-6 record and 3.59 ERA (62.2/25)... Tossed season-best 6.2 scoreless innings in lone win of season, May 21 at Syracuse. Allowed eight hits without walking a batter and struck out seven... From May 16 to August 24, allowed more than one run just two times, while holding opponents scoreless four times. Owned 1.84 ERA (44.0/9) over nine-game stretch that included a scoreless 4.0 inning relief appearance on Aug. 24 vs. Rochester... Made first appearance of season with Baltimore on June 15 at Boston, tossing 2.2 scoreless frames... Surrendered two runs (one earned) in next appearance, June 19 vs. Toronto, before providing five consecutive scoreless outings (4.2 ip)...
